Mike Ford broke out in a big way in a small-sample stretch run for the New York Yankees back in 2019, and despite scuffling for several seasons after that he found enough time to swat 16 homers for the Seattle Mariners in 2023.
He’s got a decent-enough bat, the kind of offensive player who is probably big league caliber for the benches of most clubs - even if he brings nothing to the table defensively. So, it’s not a big story in a vacuum to see that the Cincinnati Reds (and their horrendous offense) have signed Mike Ford to a big league deal.
